(Single from album, "The Bones Of What You Believe")
On re-release this September, having materialised on the UK music scene whilst still virtually unknown last Summer, Chvrches, a Glasgow synth-pop trio take the classic early-80s Depeche Mode and New Order sonics, upgrading them beautifully to incorporate a delicate female patter that delivers more meaningful and cryptic lyrics. The synthesisers, exquisitely squelchy in production and programming, guide the listener over hilly electronic terrain, weaving over a stripped middle-eight before reintroduction to full, thick sonic the song is built from. Though the initial 10” red vinyl release last year was limited enough that a copy will now set you back £150, the single is available on its second run on both CD and download formats from September.
